I’m Olivia Liendo.
I aim to tell stories in ways that surprise, engage, inform and honor the humanity in everyone.
I’m the senior manager of podcast content and operations for TelevisaUnivision, the world’s leading Spanish-Language content and media company.
I oversee the development, production, and postproduction of more than 40 podcasts across genres, including news, comedy, sports, entertainment, and personality-driven interview/chat shows.
I’ve helped some of the world’s top organizations use innovative storytelling to inspire, motivate and connect with Latinos in the US. These organizations have included the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Twitter, the Bezos Family Foundation, the International Fact-Checking Network – Poynter, Hewlett Foundation, Mozilla Foundation, UnidosUS, US Census Bureau, Poder LatinX, Voto Latino, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Learning Heroes, and Ford Foundation, among others.
My background is diverse, ranging from journalism to music to filmmaking, and I have a master’s degree in New Arts Journalism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Prior to Univision, I led the creative direction of contratiempo magazine, the largest Spanish language publication in the Midwest, supported by the MacArthur Foundation.
I also co-founded a bilingual publishing house called 7Vientos, which published flip books in both Spanish and English that were sold at book fairs and in libraries across the country.
Before that, I spent several years touring Asia, Europe, and North and South America with a classical youth orchestra led by conductor Gustavo Dudamel, as their communication director.
I also worked as a reporter at El Nacional, the main newspaper in Venezuela.
Over the past few years, I’ve been mentoring young Latino reporters, as well as reporters from underrepresented communities, and I spend a fair amount of time every month helping them improve their portfolios and multimedia projects. I care about the media industry becoming more diverse and inclusive while fostering the careers of fellow reporters and producers. A rising tide lifts all ships.
In my down time, I like writing and speaking about innovation, literature, identity and culture. I also ran my first half marathon this year.
I was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and I’m currently based in Miami, Florida.
Thanks for stopping by.
